My range is 220-240VAC input, and I live in the US.

You've got two phases of 120v and 60hz as opposed to single phase 220/240v and 50hz.

Wait.. WHAT.. you don't have emergency exit signs in the US?

Technically, no. It's split phase, three-wire configuration (due to their only being one neutral wire. Hot-hot will yield 240V).

It's not a traditional two phase because the sine wave is still in phase with a hot-neutral pair.

They do not. Americans just shoot at the nearest wall until there is a large enough hole to escape.

I'm not in America. They don't have the green running man, but this instead:

Ahh.. That looks more like something we would use as a generic exit sign.

Nah, that's only used for emergency exit signs. There's usually another sign on the door that'll say something like; "Door used only for emergencies. Alarm will sound."

We've got a sign on the door(s) as well. Anyway, the main thing is that people recognise the signs right? Use a blue pentagram superimposed on a golden brick for all I care as long as the people who're most likely to come across it will recognise it :)

high five for knowing stuff about electricity.

Except in commercial buildings which receive 3-phase power. Then the sine waves of your 2-phase power offset just to confuse everybody and 2 phases could be only 208 V instead of 220V-240V.

Yeah, but 98% of those don't actually have a sounding alarm on them, people use them for smoke breaks all the time...

Its true. Especially in TX. We are all armed at all times.

When was the last time that you saw a *residential* building receiving a 120/208 high-leg delta supply (Let alone a 277/480)? (EDIT: the original phrasing in the post is "Domestic Electricity". i.e. not commercial supply)

Besides, almost all commercial service is three-phase. Lower power requirements may yield a 120/208/240 high leg delta service being provided.

(EDIT 2: Got my voltages mixed up. It's 480/277, not 208/477)

Never been to Austin. I honestly try to avoid it. Sucks because the COTA is there.

Whoops, missed the 'residential' part at the beginning. Still different enough though. I remember having to install different transformers on machines depending on what country they were going to way back when I was building machinery for industry.

Most of the world writes dates in little-endian or big-endian format. Almost everything in the U.S. is written month/day/year, because we're special.

We also have green versions of that and occasionally we do, in fact, have the green running man.

On a personal note, I have a strong dislike for iconography without text.
